Located at 2221 N. 30th Street along Tacoma, Washington's picturesque Old Town waterfront, the Sandpiper Gallery was opened in 1983 to showcase Judy and Cordy Wagner's unique nature photographs. Although working together and sharing the same exhibition space, both Judy and Cordy capture the world through very different styles: Cordy focuses on subjects as they come to him, shaped by the perfect combination of light and texture, while Judy's compositions tend to be more abstract, created by a metamorphosis of form, color, and light. To describe their work and the Gallery's purpose, the Wagners stated that their photographic meanderings, "much like the sandpipers, will focus on nature scenes within this environmental spectrum, and range further to include neighboring views of the underwater realm and land adjoining the water."

Lake Steilacoom Visions

Judy and Cordy Wagner's early underwater photographic training and experience in the swirling tides and currents of the Pacific may well account for their steady hands to produce their surface photographs without the benefit of a tripod and using slow speed, rich color saturation film. Visitors to their Sandpiper Gallery, particularly other photographers, marvel at their images enlarged from 35mm film to 30" by 40" prints. The Wagners do not consider the resulting slight softening of focus a penalty as their large prints are often mistaken for paintings, encased in their silvery-gold "Old World Pewter" frames. The Wagners art works have extended the limits of photography to evoke and play on the emotions of the viewer. After twenty years of gallery sales their signed limited edition photographs may now be viewed on and purchased from their new website: wagnerfineart.com.

In addition to their website, the Sandpiper Gallery is open from Monday thru Saturday, 12 to 5 p.m., and at other hours by appointment, (253) 627-6667. While the gallery does host exhibitions of other local artists, its primary focus is on the Wagner's own work.

To promote their new website, the Sandpiper Gallery will ship any online order placed through wagnerfineart.com for FREE. This $260 value is only available for a limited time.
